All through the summer, the American Swedish Historical Museum continues the run of its marquee exhibition, Indian Nation: Indian Motorcycles and America.

Learn about Swedish immigrant Carl Oscar Hedstrom, the creator of the first American “motocycle” and motorcycle company in Indian Nation: Indian Motorcycles and America, an exhibit at the American Swedish Historical Museum that is on view through August 23.

Hedstrom was part of a duo that founded the Indian Motorcycle Company, the first American motorcycle company — throughout the exhibition, learn how capitalism impacted the company, its failures, successes and the impact it had on America.

Indian Nation features 12 rare Indian motorcycles from the early 20th century many of which have never been seen before. Vintage ads, historic photos, engines and other racing memorabilia round out the exhibit.

Admission to the museum, which includes the exhibition, is $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, $4 for children ages 5 to 11 and free for children under 5. Note that the museum is closed on Mondays.
