In the late-19th century, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Alfred Sisley and many more significant artists were just emerging with a revolutionary new style: Impressionism.

This summer, the Philadelphia Museum of Art showcases more than 80 impressionist works by some of the genre's best-known artists in the landmark exhibition Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel and the New Painting.

After acclaimed showings at the Muse du Luxembourg in Paris and the National Gallery in London, an even larger version of the Discovering the Impressionists opens at the Philadelphia Museum of Art for its only U.S. stop on Wednesday, June 24 and will remain on view through September 2015.

Organized by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the National Gallery in London and by the Runion des Muses Nationaux Grand Palais, in collaboration with the Muse d'Orsay in Paris, Discovering the Impressionists brings together an astounding number of major works by the great Impressionists and traces the history of the ambitious and visionary art dealer that helped establish the genre, Paul Durand-Ruel.

Tickets are now on sale for this marquee exhibit, and we highly recommend purchasing early to ensure a visit to this summer’s must-see art show.

Admission prices range from free for children under 4 years old and members to $25 for adults.

Available online and at any of the museum’s visitor services desks, dated and timed tickets are available to members and the general public.
